TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Indianapolis Indians in the first game of a four-game set from Victory Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is looking to bounce back from a 1-3 series loss against Louisville to begin this eight-game roadtrip. After the series against Indianapolis, the Bisons return home for a four-game series against Pawtucket, July 28-31.
vs. THE INDIANS: The Bisons are 1-3 against Indianapolis this year after a four-game series in Buffalo, June 6-9. The two teams split the season-series a year ago, 4-4 (each team going 2-2 at home). Buffalo has a .538 winning percentage (49-42) against Indianapolis since returning to the IL in 1998.
GETTIN’ FIGGY WIT’ IT: RHP Nelson Figueroa had another solid start for the Herd last night despite getting a loss in Louisville. The righty collected his ninth consecutive quality start with three runs allowed, five strikeouts, and no walks in seven innings of work. The veteran has the third-best ERA (2.42) in the IL behind only Carlos Torres (2.20) of Charlotte and Clay Buchholz (2.36) of Pawtucket. Figueroa also has an impressive 85 strikeouts to only 23 walks in 104 innings of work on the season.
KEEPING A HOT BAT: OF Jesus Feliciano has been the best hitter for the Herd all season long. The Bisons slugger has a .327 batting average (34-104) with eight doubles as well as 12RBI in his last 26 games. Feliciano is ninth in the IL in hitting (.308) and fourth in total hits (99). The outfielder also leads the Bisons with 36RBI this year.
NO HITZ SWITZ: LHP Jon Switzer has been one of the Bisons most consistent relievers this season. The southpaw finished the game for the Bisons with a solid eighth inning consisting of a strikeout and no hits or walks allowed. Switzer has a 2.88ERA with 36 strikeouts to only 11 walks on the season.
Nelson Figueroa had his customary quality start, but it wasn’t enough on Thursday night, as the Bats used the left arm of Ben Jukich to down the Herd, 3-1, from Louisville Slugger Field and take the series from the Bisons three games to one.
Nelson Figueroa’s six strikeouts pass Jonathon Niese for the team lead in strikeouts with 86. Niese will have a chance to regain the team lead as he gets the start tomorrow against Indianapolis. Figueroa has thrown six or more innings in every start since May 5.

TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Louisville Bats in the final game of a four-game set from Louisville Slugger Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is looking for a series split after winning last night’s ballgame, 2-1. The Bisons continue their eight-game roadtrip in Indianapolis with a four-game set with the Indians starting tomorrow at 7:15.
vs. THE BATS: The Bisons are now 3-4 against Louisville this year after last night’s 2-1 win. The teams split a four-game set in Buffalo, April 30 – May 3. The Herd lost the season-series a year ago, 5-3. Buffalo has a .537 winning percentage (51-44) against Louisville since returning to the IL in 1998.
GETTIN’ FIGGY WIT’ IT: RHP Nelson Figueroa will get the start today for the Herd in Louisville. Figueroa is the reigning IL Pitcher of the Week after tossing a seven-inning, complete-game shutout in game two of a doubleheader against Toledo on July 18. The veteran enters tonight’s contest with the second-best ERA (2.32) in the IL behind only Carlos Torres (2.20) of Charlotte. The right-hander brings a few streaks into tonight’s game. Figueroa is riding a streak of eight consecutive quality starts, has thrown 14 straight scoreless innings and has won six consecutive decisions for the Herd.
SOLID ‘PEN: Relievers RHP Tim McNab and RHP Brandon Knight combined to throw five scoreless innings last night to preserve the 2-1 win. With his three scoreless innings yesterday, McNab now has a scoreless streak of 10.2 innings, spanning five games. Knight is now a perfect 3-3 in save opportunities since taking over as the Herd’s closer.
KEEPING A HOT BAT: OF Jesus Feliciano is hitting .421 over his current five-game hit streak. The Herd’s most consistent hitter all season, Feliciano is tied for seventh in the IL in hitting (.312) and fourth in total hits (99). He also leads the Bisons with 36RBI on the season.
HELPING YOUR OWN CAUSE: Last night’s starting pitcher Kyle Snyder drove in the winning run with an RBI single in the second inning. Snyder is the second Bisons pitcher to pick up an RBI this season. LHP Jonathon Niese knocked in a run in the Herd’s 5-1 victory in Gwinnett on June 25.
The Bisons took a 1-0 lead behind a leadoff homer from Aregis Reyes on Wednesday night and held on all the way through for a 2-1 win over Louisville.
Kyle Snyder made the spot start but Tim McNab earned the win while Brandon Knight posted the save. Kyle Snyder picked up his first pro hit and RBI in the game.
