Memphis stops Herd 2-0
The Bisons were defeated 2-0 by the Memphis Redbirds (Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals) on Monday afternoon.
RHP DILLON GEE started for Buffalo and allowed just one run in 4.2 innings of work. He allowed only three hits and struck out seven batters. RHP RYOTA IGARASHI, RHP JOHN LUJAN and RHP MANNY ALVAREZ all chipped in an inning of shutout relief.
Offensively, the Bisons were limited to just three hits. OF JESUS FELICIANO was 2-4 at the plate.

Pascucci, FMart provide RBI in loss
The Memphis Cardinals (Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals) defeated the Buffalo Bisons, 7-3, Friday afternoon from the spring training home of the New York Mets. The Bisons are now 0-2 in the first two games of a 13-game spring training schedule.
The Bisons will hold a ‘camp day’ on Saturday before traveling to Jupiter, FL to face the New Orleans Zephyrs on Sunday.
For the second straight game, OF VALENTINO PASCUCCI and OF FERNANDO MARTINEZ provided the offense for the Herd. Each finished the game 1-3 with a run driven in.
On the mound, RHP DYLAN OWEN tossed a pair of scoreless innings with one strikeout.

Mets cut eight from camp
The New York Mets optioned RHP DILLION GEE to minor league camp. The club also re-assigned seven players to minor league camp, including INF RUSS ADAMS, OF JASON PRIDIE and RHP RYOTA IGARASHI -all of which spent significant time with the Bisons a season ago.
Also re-assigned today were RHP BOOF BONSOR, LHP TAYLOR TANKERSLEY, C DUSTY RYAN and C RAUL CHAVEZ.
Gee, 24, was the Mets 2010 Sterling Award winner as the organization’s top Triple-A player. With the Herd, the righty was 13-8 with a 4.96ERA and a Bisons modern era single-season record 165 strikeouts (161.1IP, 89ER). Gee’s strikeout total was 28 more than the previous record of 137 set by RHP Vicente Palacios in 1990.
Gee’s 165 strikeouts were 23 more than any other pitcher at the Triple-A level in 2010. He also finished second in the International League with his 13 wins. After the conclusion of the Bisons’ season, Gee was promoted to the Mets where he was 2-2 with a 2.18ERA in five starts.
Adams, 30, spent the entire 2010 season with the Bisons and led the club with 28 doubles, 46 extra-base hits, 58RBI and 58 runs scored. In 108 games, Adams hit .264 (101-383) with 16 home runs while splitting time in the infield and the outfield.
Pridie, 27, played 40 games with the Bisons in 2010 until a pair of hamstring injuries shortened his season. The outfielder hit .280 (46-164) with three home runs, 19RBI and nine stolen bases.
Igarashi, 31, made 15 appearances with the Herd last season, posting a 2-1 record and two saves with a 3.31ERA (16.1IP, 6ER).
Bisons fall in spring opener
The Buffalo Bisons were defeated today, 5-4, by the New Orleans Zephyrs (Triple-A affiliate of the Florida Marlins) in their 2011 Spring Training Opener.

On the mound, RHP JOSH STINSON tossed three scoreless innings for Buffalo. The 23-year old was 2-2 with a 2.57ERA in four starts with the Herd a season ago.
OF VALENTINO PASCUCCI was 1-2 with an RBI while OF FERNANDO MARTINEZ finished the game 1-3. Pascucci clubbed 17 homers with the Bisons a season ago while Martinez has 20 home runs over parts of two seasons with the Herd.

The Bisons will play 13 games this spring before breaking camp and heading up to Buffalo for the start of the 126th season of professional baseball in Buffalo.
Bisons to televise 51 games
The Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, announced their television schedule that will include the live broadcast of 51 games during the 2011 season. All 51 games on the schedule will be shown on Time Warner Cable SportsNet – Channel 13. The schedule begins with Opening Day, Thursday, April 7 against the Syracuse Chiefs (3:05 p.m.).
The slate of games also includes five games on SNY, the official television home of the New York Mets, Jets and the Big East Conference.
SNY will begin their five-game Bisons schedule on Thursday, May 12 against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (1:05 p.m.). The television home of the Mets will also show the Herd on May 23 (Charlotte), June 27 (Norfolk), July 14 (Rochester) and August 18 (Toledo).

All games played at Coca-Cola Field will feature the play-by-play of “The Voice of the Bisons,” Ben Wagner and the color commentary of Buffalo Baseball Hall of Famer, Duke McGuire. Road games will be commentated on by the respecting home team’s announcers.
Highlights of the schedule include five games against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees (May 10, 12, July 26-28) and two games against the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, the Pawtucket Red Sox (April 12, July 25). The Bisons annual Independence Eve Celebration on July 3 against Syracuse is on also the schedule. The 49-game schedule includes 12 of the International League’s 14 teams.
Renewed focus for Niese

Spring sounds
The New York Mets opened Grapefruit League action this week. Three former Bisons – Daniel Murphy, Josh Thole and R.A. Dickey – are hoping to help lead the Mets with each earning more definitive roles leading into the new season.
Daniel Murphy had his 2010 season end at second base at Coca-Cola Field last June. But the hard-working infielder is back from a season-ending knee injury and is looking to win a job with the Mets.
Former Bisons catcher Josh Thole was an early arrival at Mets Spring Training in Port St. Lucie, FL. The backstop is looking forward to a new season and building on his big league experience in 2010.
Former Bisons pitcher R.A. Dickey doesn’t wait until the ballpark opens to start his workout. The knuckleballer uses two wheels, not four, to get to work.

Bisons annual open house
Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A Affiliate of the New York Mets, will hold their annual Family Day Open House on Saturday, March 5 from 12 – 3:00 p.m. at Coca-Cola Field.
This event is FREE to the general public. Fans will also be able to purchase a ticket to the Bisons game on Saturday, April 9 or Sunday, April 10 for only a $5 donation to Western New York United Against Drug & Alcohol Abuse.
Doors will open at 11:00 a.m. for Bisons Season Ticket Holders. Everyone else is welcome to join the fun starting at 12:00 p.m.

Mets re-ink Feliciano, make additions
A Combined 268-831 (.323) in Buffalo the past two seasons, is currently the Bisons second-best Modern Era batting average.
The New York Mets today announced that they have signed OF JESUS FELICIANO to a minor league deal. The Bisons’ major league affiliate also announced that INF CHRIS SHELTON and RHP KENT TSUJIMOTO have been signed to minor league deals.
Feliciano, 31, has played more games during the Bisons-Mets affiliation than any other player (219). The 2009 Bisons Most Valuable Player has hit .323 (268-831) in his two years with the Herd, the second-highest average in the team’s Modern Era. The outfielder led the International League with 154 hits during the 2009 campaign and posted a .339 (114-336) average during the 2010 season that fell just 20 points shy of qualifying as the IL’s second highest mark. In two seasons, Feliciano has also compiled 112 runs scored, 48 doubles, 70RBI and 19 stolen bases with Buffalo.
Feliciano also received the 2010 Jimmy Griffin Hometown Hero award for his excellence during home games. In two years, Feliciano has averaged .333 (132-396) at Coca-Cola Field.
Shelton, 30, spent the 2010 season in Houston’s organization. Playing primarily for Triple-A Round Rock of the Pacific Coast League, the 6-0, 215-pounder hit 10 home runs and drove in 42 in 82 games. He last appeared in the major leagues in 2009 with Seattle.
Tsujimoto, 22, pitched last season with Maui of the Independent Golden League. The 6-1, 180-pounder went 3-2 with a 2.88 ERA in 34.1 innings, 32 games. He struck out 48 and walked 13.
