Frandsen’s homer with one out in the first got them on the board and back-to-back walks to Mark Wagner and Dusty Brown by Herd starter Bobby Livingston later in the inning gave Pawtucket a 2-0.

Wagner and Nava drew walks around a Brown double in the fourth inning to load the bases again against Livingston. Sac flies from Matt Sheely and Josh Reddick pushed the PawSox lead to 4-1.

Nava’s homer off reliever Travis Blackley in the sixth sealed Pawtucket’s second win over the Bisons in six games this season.

Buffalo scored their lone run in the bottom of the second. Chris Carter led off with the single and got himself to third on a Pawtucket error and a groundout. Andy Green scored his teammate from third with a groundout to the right side.

The loss for Buffalo went to Livingston (0-2). He allowed four runs on five hits and five walks in five innings of work.

Mike Cervenak singled in four trips to extend his hit streak to a Bisons’ season-high 11 games. Mike O’Connor pitched a scoreless ninth inning. He has made five consecutive relief appearances without allowing an earned run.

Jacobs, bats never let up

Wearing a Buffalo uniform for the first time, first baseman Mike Jacobs homered and had three hits in an over-powering 10-3 victory over the Red Sox on Sunday afternoon at McCoy Stadium. Jesus Feliciano added a home run as the Bisons pounded out a season-high 19 hits.

The slugger quickly found a comfort level with his new teammates. He doubled home a run in the first inning and singled again in the second. In the sixth inning, Jacobs launched a mammoth home run to right field off of former Bisons’ hurler, Chad Paronto. That blast, which came right after Feliciano’s two-run homer, all but sealed the Herd’s second straight win.

Six different players had multi-hit performances, including four hits from Feliciano. The Bisons’ 2009 MVP scored three times and drove in three runs while raising his average to .368.

Mike Cervenak went 3-5 to extend his hit streak to 10 games. One of the hottest Bisons’ bats, Ruben Tejada was the only batter in the lineup who failed to get a hit, ending a five-game hit streak.

Jacobs joins Bisons

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that INF MIKE JACOBS has been added to the team’s active roster.

Jacobs, 29, began the season with the Mets but was designated for assignment on April 18. With New York, Jacobs hit .208 (5-24) with a home run, two RBI and three walks in seven games. He reached base safely in all but one of his games with the Mets.

Jacobs signed a minor league deal with the Mets on February 10 and made the big league club out of spring training. Last season, Jacobs hit 19 home runs and drove in 61 runs in 128 games with the Kansas City Royals. In 2008, he set career highs with 32 home runs and 93RBI while playing 141 games with the Florida Marlins.

Jacobs was originally drafted by the Mets in the 38th round of the 1999 draft and made his major league debut playing 30 games with New York in 2005. In that first stint with the Mets, Jacobs hit .310 (31-100) with 11 home runs and 23RBI.

Bisons, Dickey win 4-2

R.A. Dickey spun his magic and once again the Pawtucket hitters were mystified.

For the second time in 10 days, the Bisons’ knuckleballer dominated the Red Sox. This time, the veteran took his show on the road and led the Herd to a 4-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Dickey allowed two runs in eight innings of work. He struck out five and posted four 1-2-3 innings as part of his 110-pitch effort. At one point, Dickey retired seven batters in a row, giving the Bisons offense a chance to rebound from an early deficit.

Buffalo trailed 2-1 in the sixth inning with their only run coming on a bases-loaded doubleplay off the bat of Josh Thole in the second. With Mike Hessman aboard, Mike Cervenak came through with two out in the sixth when he drove a 2-0 pitch from Randor Bierd to deep left-centerfield for his second homer of the season.

The Bisons added insurance in the ninth inning thanks to the red-hot Ruben Tejada. The shortstop had two more hits, including a double that scored Andy Green all the way from first base. Tejada has now hit in five straight games with three multi-hit efforts.

John Lujan made his Triple-A debut in the bottom of the ninth and struck out two batters in his first save of the season.

BISONS NOTES:Chris Carter went 2-3 with a walk against his former team…Andy Green was 1-3 with two runs scored and has hit in all three games since been activated off the disabled list.
