Bisons, Dickey win 4-2

R.A. Dickey spun his magic and once again the Pawtucket hitters were mystified.

For the second time in 10 days, the Bisons’ knuckleballer dominated the Red Sox. This time, the veteran took his show on the road and led the Herd to a 4-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Dickey allowed two runs in eight innings of work. He struck out five and posted four 1-2-3 innings as part of his 110-pitch effort. At one point, Dickey retired seven batters in a row, giving the Bisons offense a chance to rebound from an early deficit.

Buffalo trailed 2-1 in the sixth inning with their only run coming on a bases-loaded doubleplay off the bat of Josh Thole in the second. With Mike Hessman aboard, Mike Cervenak came through with two out in the sixth when he drove a 2-0 pitch from Randor Bierd to deep left-centerfield for his second homer of the season.

The Bisons added insurance in the ninth inning thanks to the red-hot Ruben Tejada. The shortstop had two more hits, including a double that scored Andy Green all the way from first base. Tejada has now hit in five straight games with three multi-hit efforts.

John Lujan made his Triple-A debut in the bottom of the ninth and struck out two batters in his first save of the season.

BISONS NOTES:Chris Carter went 2-3 with a walk against his former team…Andy Green was 1-3 with two runs scored and has hit in all three games since been activated off the disabled list.
