TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons travel to Gwinnett to face the Braves in the first game of a four-game series at Coolray Field (7:05 p.m.) Tonight’s game is also the start of an eight-game roadtrip as the Herd will face Charlotte, June 25-28. The Bisons are coming off a 3-5 homestand that included a four-game split with Lehigh Valley and a 3-1 series loss to Indianapolis.
vs. THE BRAVES: Tonight is the first game between the Bisons and the Braves this season. Last year, the teams split each four-game set in Buffalo and in Gwinnett. The Braves did outscore the Bisons, 40-33, in the eight games.
SOLID STARTER: RHP DYLAN OWEN is making his seventh start with the Bisons this season. The righty has worked at least five innings in each of his outings and has recorded 31 strikeouts in only 33.0 innings of work. In his last outing, June 15 against Lehigh Valley, Owen allowed just two earned runs in five innings of work for the win.
ROSTER MOVE: RHP BOBBY PARNELL has been recalled by the New York Mets. The reliever has thrown in 24 games for the Herd this season with a 1-1 record, four saves and a 4.14ERA. His 24 appearances were second most on the team (LHP MIKE O’CONNOR, 25). This month, Parnell is 1-0 with 3.46ERA and two saves, with 11 strikeouts in seven games (13.0IP).
LEFTY MIKE: LHP MIKE O’CONNOR has made five consecutive scoreless appearances for the Herd. During the stretch, the lefty has allowed just three hits while striking out seven batters in 6.2 innings of work. On the season, O’Connor has retired the first batter he’s faced in 21 of his 25 outings (84%) and has only allowed five of 21 inherited runners to score (24%).
NEW BISON: OF JORGE PADILLA made his first Bisons start yesterday after being acquired by the Mets from Toronto. Padilla led off for the Herd and went 2-6 against Indy. Padilla hit .330 (61-185) with four homers and 27RBI in 50 games for Triple-A Las Vegas to begin the season.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (39-30) were shutout by the Yankees yesterday 4-0 in the rubber game of the Subway Series. Former Bison INF RUBEN TEJADA went 1-3 with a double in the defeat. RHP JOHAN SANTANA tossed six innings allowing a grand slam in the third inning to Mark Texiera. The Mets have a day off today and will return home Tuesday for a six game homestand with the Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins.

TODAY’S GAME: This afternoon, the Bisons host the Indianapolis Indians in the final game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The Herd needs a win today to earn a split of the four-game series with Indy. Buffalo is 3-4 so far on an eight-game homestand that began with a four-game split with Lehigh Valley. The Bisons open up an eight-game roadtrip tomorrow in Gwinnett.
vs. THE INDIANS: Today is the final contest between the Bisons and the Indians this season. Indy won the season series as they are ahead 5-2 heading into today’s finale. Even with a win today, the Bisons can earn just a split of the four-game set in Buffalo. That means the Herd is still without a series victory in their last 12 four-game sets against Indianapolis.
ROLLING STONE: RHP TOBI STONER dominated the Indians in a start at Victory Field on May 8. Stoner struck out a season-high eight batters and allowed just one run in six innings as the Bisons defeated Indy, 4-3.
ROSTER MOVE: OF JORGE PADILLA makes his first Bisons start today after being acquired by the Mets yesterday. Padilla hit .330 (61-185) with four homers and 27RBI in 50 games for the Toronto’s Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas. Last year, Padilla led all full season minor leagues over the first four months of the season with a .367 (114-311) average with Syracuse. Promoted to Washington on August 5, 2009, Padilla fell just 38 plate appearances shy of winning the International League’s batting championship last season.
HOLY THOLE: C JOSH THOLE enters today’s game on a six-game hit streak during which he has averaged .500 (10-20). With four walks, he has also reached base at least twice in each of the last six contests. Since May 18, the catcher has averaged .418 (28-67) with nine multi-hit performances in 21 games.
NOTHING PETTY: LHP ADAM PETTYJOHN has made six consecutive scoreless appearances for the Herd. The 8.1 inning stretch is tied for the longest by a Bisons reliever this season. During the stretch, the southpaw has allowed just three hits while striking out 12 batters. On the season, Pettyjohn has held lefty hitters to just three hits in 47 at-bats (.064) with 17 strikeouts.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (39-29) fell to the Yankees yesterday, 5-3. The defeat snapped New York’s eight-game winning streak. INF JOSE REYES hit a pair of home runs in the loss. RHP MIKE PELFREY pitched seven innings in just his second loss of the season. The Mets take on their Subway Series rivals again today at 1:05 p.m. in the rubber-match of their three-game series from Yankees Stadium.

Miscues lead to loss
Buffalo made a season-high four miscues -including one in the ninth inning and two in the 10th- in a 9-3 defeat to the Indianapolis Indians from Coca-Cola Field.
Indy tied the game at three with a run in the top of the ninth inning. The Indians then exploded for six runs in the 10th to earn the victory.
Buffalo entered the game tied for the third best fielding percentage in the IL. The Herd had made just 46 errors in their first 68 games of the season.
Holding a 3-2 edge in the ninth inning, the Bisons were just three outs away from their fourth win in five games. But the Indians began their game-tying rally when Steve Pearce singled off of Manny Acosta to lead off the frame. Then, Buffalo’s Josh Thole was charged with a catcher’s interference on Jeff Clement. That pushed Pearce into scoring position, and three batters later, he scored on Argenis Diaz’s single.
Things then unraveled for Buffalo in the 10th. Indy’s Erik Kratz led off the inning with a shallow fly ball to left field off reliever Roy Merritt. Left fielder Lucas Duda and shortstop Justin Turner converged, but neither took charge. The ball dropped in for one error and then Duda threw the ball away trying to get Kratz at second base. The double-error put Kratz at third base and opened the flood gates.
Jim Negrych drove home Kratz on a fielder’s choice for the 4-3 lead. The Indians then got doubles from Pearce, Diaz, Jonathan Van Every and pitcher Jean Machi in a six-run explosion.
Buffalo had a 3-2 lead in the ninth on RBI-hits from Duda and Thole and the fourth inning and a pinch hit RBI-single from Andy Green in the sixth.
Indy’s rally spoiled a great start from Dillon Gee. The righty allowed just two runs (one earned) in six innings and struck out seven.
BISONS NOTES: Jorge Padilla came into the game as a defensive replacement in the eighth inning for his Bisons debut. Padilla was acquired by the Mets in a trade with Toronto on Saturday…Josh Thole went 1-3 and is now 12 for his last 28 at the plate (.429)…Prior to the game, the Bisons announced that longtime broadcaster Duke McGuire and former American Association All-Star Richie Sexson have been elected into the Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame. Former induction ceremonies will take place at Coca-Cola Field on July 18.
