Bisons avoid sweep in Syracuse

Pat Misch cooled off the Chiefs hitters on a hot Thursday night, handing Syracuse a loss and avoiding the series sweep.
Misch held the Chiefs to just two-runs over seven innings, and the Bisons offense did the rest putting up four to beat Syracuse 5-2 at Alliance Bank Stadium.

Misch has put in the most quality starts of any Bisons pitcher, tonight was no different. He worked 6.2 innings striking out five, and giving up five-hits.

Valentino Pascucci and Luis Hernandez continued to drive in the runs the Bisons needed to back up Misch. Pascucci added to his RBI total in the first inning smacking a two-run double into center-field scoring the newly returned Ruben Tejada and Luis Figueroa.

Pascucci now has 65 RBI in the 2011 season which leads all Bisons batters. Pascucci has been red-hot since returning from the All-Star break putting up MVP type numbers.

Luis Hernandez singled into right-field to score Pascucci in the first, and then in the sixth inning Hernandez singled into left-field score Luis Figueroa. Hernandez didn’t stop there, adding a solo-home run to right-field in the eighth inning.

Hernandez has 13 RBI since returning from the All-Star break. All thre runs-batted-in Thursday night came with two-out in the inning.

Dale Thayer closed out the game with his team leading 10th save of the 2011 season. Thayer worked for the save getting seven outs for the herd to secure the win.
