TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons take on the Gwinnett Braves in the second game of a four-game series from Coolray Field (7:05 p.m.). The Bisons earned a 3-2 win in the series opener last night. Buffalo has now won six of its last eight games and eight of 12 dating back to May 22. The Bisons are 3-2 on their current roadtrip that began with a four-game split in Charlotte.
VS. THE BRAVES: The Bisons are 4-1 against the Braves this season. The Herd won three of four in their back-to-back doubleheaders against Gwinnett last weekend at Coca-Cola Field. Dating back to last season, Buffalo has now won seven of its last eight games against the Braves.
HERE’S THE DISH: LHP PAT MISCH is back in the Bisons rotation after a three-week stint with the Mets. The southpaw was designed on May 27 after pitching five relief outings for New York. He allowed seven runs in 5.0 innings, but did earn a win on May 13 in Houston. Misch, who began the season with the Bisons, is 0-2 with a 6.46ERA in four starts for Buffalo in 2011.
ROSTER MOVES: Also joining the Bisons today is LHP MIKE O’CONNOR. The southpaw pitched in nine games with the Mets over the last month, going 0-1 with a 2.70ERA (6.2IP, 5H, 8K). To make roster room, RHP ERIK TURGEON and OF BUBBA BELL have been transferred to Double-A Binghamton.
ZIPPIDY DUDA: OF LUCAS DUDA has been on fire since returning from a two-week stint on the disabled list on May 27. In his last eight games, Duda has averaged .440 (11-25) with a double, five home runs and nine RBI. He now leads the Bisons with eight home runs on the season. The slugger has homered in three of the four games he’s played against Gwinnett this year.
OUR PAL VAL: INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI leads the Bisons with 32RBI on the season, including eight in his last seven games. Pascucci’s 27RBI since May 10 are three more than any other hitter in the International League. In that 23-game span, the slugger has hit .333 with seven doubles, five home runs and 11 runs scored. Pascucci also ranks third in the IL with a .409 on-base percentage.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (26-31) were defeated by the Braves by a 6-3 score last night. Former Bisons LHP JON NIESE allowed just two runs in 7.2 innings, but did not earn a decision. INF JOSE REYES added his N.L.-leading ninth triple in the loss. The Mets host the rival Braves again tonight at 7:10 p.m.
