The Herd won last night’s series opener by a 4-2 score for the team’s third straight victory. On Tuesday, Buffalo returns to the road for an eight-game trip to Rochester and Lehigh Valley

VS. IRONPIGS: With last night’s win, the Bisons struck first in the season series against Lehigh Valley. The Herd has now won nine of their last 11 games against the IronPigs. That record includes a 6-1 record against the I-Pigs in the last seven games played at Coca-Cola Field.

DISCH ON MISCH: LHP PAT MISCH returns to the Bisons rotation and will make his second start of the season today. The southpaw was promoted to New York on April 16 for one game. He dealt 13.0 scoreless innings in two starts last year against Lehigh Valley.

GOING STREAKIN’: OF KIRK NIEUWENHUIS extended his hit streak to 12 games last night. It’s the longest hit streak in the International League this season and already matches the highest by a Bison a season ago. In 2010, both OF JESUS FELICIANO and OF JORGE PADILLA had 12-games streaks. Nieuwenhuis has hit an even .400 (16-40) since April 11. He has also reached base safely in all 16 games this season, tops in the IL.

WELCOME BACK: The Bisons have activated OF FERNANDO MARTINEZ today. The outfielder missed 10 games on the disabled list with a right hamstring strain. Martinez had four hits on Opening Day this year and has a .313 average in four games with Buffalo this season.

ACES FULL: The Bisons pitching staff has been overpowering this homestand. The Herd’s staff has posted a combined 1.58ERA in the five games with only 25 hits allowed and 29 strikeouts in 40 innings of work. Buffalo has not allowed more than two earned runs in any game this homestand.

METS UPDATE: The Mets (7-13) took a 4-1 victory from the Diamondbacks last night at Citi Field. Former Bisons INF IKE DAVIS homered for the second straight game. Before the game, the Mets selected the contract of Bisons OF JASON PRIDIE. New York hosts Arizona against today at 1:10 p.m.
