Bisons fall 7-5

Lehigh Valley got a pair of home runs from Erik Kratz and a two-run shot from Jeff Larish in a 7-5 victory over the Herd, snapping Buffalo’s three-game win streak.

A see-saw affair finally swung the IronPigs way in the seventh inning. After the Bisons held leads of 1-0 and 4-3, Lehigh Valley plated three runs off the usually-stingy Buffalo bullpen to snap their own four-game losing streak.

Dewlyn Young started the game-winning rally when he doubled home Jeff Frandsen off reliever Manny Alvarez. With the score tied, Larish lined a two-run homer into the Bully Hill Party Deck off lefty Taylor Tankersley.

The Bisons closed the score to 6-5 as Fernando Martinez, who was activated off the disabled list before the game, clubbed a pinch-hit opposite field home run. Kratz followed with his second home run of the game to give the IronPigs some insurance.

After scoring first, the Herd found itself down 3-1 in the fifth inning. A two-out rally that gave Buffalo the lead was sparked by the pitcher. Pat Misch doubled home Valentino Pascucci before he, and his battery mate Raul Chavez, scored on a single from Ruben Tejada.

The loss was charged to Manny Alvarez. Misch allowed three runs in 5.2 innings of work, but did not earn a decision.

BISONS NOTES: Prior to the game, the Bisons placed infielder Zach Lutz on the disabled list with a right hamstring strain. With the roster space, Martinez was activated to the team’s roster…Kirk Nieuwenhuis went 1-4 with a double and a run scored. His hit streak now stands at 13 games, one longer that the highest streak by a Bison in 2010…Misch’s RBI-double was the first hit by a pitcher this season.
