Bisons win streak stopped
After winning five straight games for the first time since 2007, the Herd’s hot streak came to an end. The Bisons were defeated by the Lehigh Valley IronPigs 6-3 on Monday night.
Bisons stater Dylan Owen was only able to go five innings and gave up five hits and allowed two runs. Owen struck out five batters.
John Mayberry Jr. was the Bison killer on the night, scoring the game tying run in the sixth and belted a solo home run in the second inning.
For the Herd, Mike Hessman started off the offense as he reached base on a single and was driven in by catcher J.R House in the second inning. Hessman finished the night 1-4 and still leads the International League in home runs and RBI. House and Mike Cervenak went 2-4 with the RBI hits in the loss.
Catcher Dane Sardinha hit a two run home run to give the IronPigs insurance runs and ultimately to the final score of 6-3.
After being named the International League’s batter of the week, right fielder Jesus Feliciano went 0-4 and saw his league high batting average dip to .372. The Herd will finish their four game series with the IronPigs Tuesday, sending Pat Misch (4-0, 3.02 ERA) to the mound.
