Gee: 7 shutout, Ks 8 in victory

Dillon Gee put up seven zeroes and allowed just three hits as the Bisons shutout the Yankees, 2-0, Saturday evening from Coca-Cola Field.

Gee allowed just four base runners -three singles and a walk. He erased two of those with a strike-’em-out, throw-’em-out doubleplay to end the second inning and a 6-4-3 twin-killing in the fifth. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre pushed just one base runner past second base against the righty.

The Bisons got the only runs they would need with a two-out rally in the third inning. Jesus Feliciano singled up the middle and moved to third on Mike Cervenak’s double down the left field line. Ike Davis singled to the right-centerfield gap on the first pitch from Yankees’ starter Jason Hirsh to plate both Herd baserunners.

Davis has hit in six straight games and 8-of-9 contests this season.

Bobby Parnell and Elmer Dessens polished off the masterpiece, each tossing an inning in relief. Parnell has now tossed 5.2 shutout innings to start the season, while Dessens earned his second save.
