TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Indianapolis Indians in the second game of a four-game set from Victory Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd dropped the opener of the series last night to Indy, 3-1. Buffalo is now 1-4 on their eight-game roadtrip that began with a 3-1 series loss in Louisville. After the series against Indianapolis, the Bisons return home for a four-game series against Pawtucket, July 28-31.

vs. THE INDIANS: The Bisons are 1-4 against the Indianapolis Indians this year. The Indians took three of four games from the Herd at Coca-Cola Field from June 6-9. The two teams split the season-series a year ago, 4-4. Buffalo has a .533 winning percentage (49-43) against Indianapolis since returning to the International League in 1998.

CENTURY MARK: OF Jesus Feliciano became the fourth hitter in the International League to reach the 100-hit mark this season. Feliciano has hit in 18 of his 20 games this month, averaging .321 (25-78). He’s only eight hits behind the league leader, Gwinnett’s INF Barbaro Canizares. Overall, his .308 batting average ranks 9th in the IL. He also leads the Bisons with 36RBI this year.

WELL DESERVED: LHP Jonathon Niese will be promoted to the Mets tonight to start for New York against Houston. The southpaw has been almost unhittable of late for the Bisons. In his last seven starts, Niese is 5-0 with a 0.73ERA. He has allowed just four runs on 34 hits in his last 50.1 innings of work (42 strikeouts). Niese leads the International League with two shutouts.

ROSTER MOVE: RHP Brandon Knight has been released from his contract as the veteran intends on pitching in the Korean Baseball Organization. With Buffalo, Knight was 4-9 with a 5.06ERA in 20 games and 14 starts. Recently, he had found a role as the team’s closer, converting each of his last three save opportunities. Knight leaves the Herd 3rd on the staff in strikeouts (80).

DL DWINDLING: Another name has come off the Herd’s disabled list. INF Mark Kiger has been activated and was transferred to Binghamton (AA) today. Kiger missed 54 games with a left hand strain. He played just two games for the Bisons before getting injured, going 0-4 at the plate.
