TODAY’S GAME: This evening, the Buffalo Bisons face the Indianapolis Indians in the final game of a four-game set at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Bisons need to win tonight to earn a split as the Indians won the first two games of the series while the Herd took Game 3 yesterday, 2-1. The Bisons will host the Durham Bulls for a four-game series after Wednesday’s off day.
VS. THE INDIANS: The Bisons are 1-2 against Indianapolis this year after winning yesterday’s game. Buffalo will travel to Indy for four games, July 24-27. The Bisons have not won a four-game series against the Indians since taking three of four in Indy, June 28 – July 1, 2004. Still, Buffalo owns the 49-41 edge over Indy since returning to the I.L. in 1998 (.544 pct.).
LET ME WORK: RHP Brandon Knight was outstanding in his last outing, but had his performance interrupted by an hour-plus rain delay. The veteran allowed just one hit and faced the minimum through four innings on June 4 in Norfolk. Unfortunately, a long rain delay forced Knight from an eventual 1-0 Bisons win. Knight had four strikeouts in the game and now leads the team with 55 punch outs on the season.
ROSTER MOVE: LHP Pat Misch has been officially added to the club’s roster. A waiver claim by the Mets from San Francisco, Misch was 3-0 with a 2.00ERA and one save in 12 games with Fresno (AAA) this season.
UNLUCKY 13: OF Wily Mo Pena saw his hit streak end yesterday at a Bisons’ season high 13-games. From May 25 -June 8, Pena hit .327 (17-52) with a double, three home runs and eight RBI. The streak raised his average 56 points.
DONE LIKE DESSENS: RHP Elmer Dessens has converted his last eight save opportunities. His 8 saves are T6th most in the International League
