Roster Moves: Antonini starts G1, Malo returns
The Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, have added LHP Michael Antonini to their roster from the Binghamton Mets (AA).
The 23-year old (pictured) is scheduled to start for the Herd in Game 1 of tonight’s doubleheader against the Gwinnett Braves (5:35 p.m.).
Antonini was 4-1 with a 4.88ERA in six starts with Binghamton this season (31.1IP, 37H, 17R, 17ER, 12BB, 26K). He is coming off his best outing of the season as he allowed just one run in 6.2 innings of work to defeat Portland on May 7. Antonini also won three consecutive starts, April 15-26.
The Mets 18th round selection in the 2007 First-year Player Draft will be making his Triple-A debut. The southpaw was a combined 9-7 with a 2.76ERA in 162.2 innings of work at three different levels last season.
Also, INF Jonathan Malo has been added to their roster from the Binghamton Mets (AA).
To make roster room, INF Jose Coronado has been transferred to the B-Mets.
Malo began the year with the Bisons, but was transferred to Binghamton on April 28. With the B-Mets, he hit .290 (18-62) with one home run and eight RBI in 16 games. He left riding an eight-game hit streak, May 6-14, where he hit .294 (10-34).
