Mets recall Duda

The New York Mets today announced that they have recalled OF LUCAS DUDAfrom the Buffalo Bisons.

Duda has hit .257 (19-74) with four doubles, three home runs nine RBI in 21 games with the Bisons. The outfielder has been one of the hottest bats in the Bisons lineup of late, with a .400 (12-30) average since April 25 with three doubles, three home runs and seven RBI in his last eight games.

Jason Bay was placed on the Paternity Leave List to be with his wife, Kristen, for the birth of the couple’s third child.

Pigs win, take series

The IronPigs’ lineup featured the Philadelphia Phillies’ top prospect Domonic Brown on a rehab assignment, but it was a 24-year old catcher in his first Triple-A game that had the biggest hit of the day.

Joel Naughton’s bloop single over a drawn-in infield scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning of a 3-2 victory over the Bisons on Tuesday afternoon from Coca-Cola Park.

The loss dropped the Bisons to 4-9 on the road this season. Buffalo was 3-5 on their most-recent roadtrip that ended with Tuesday’s loss. The Herd will return downtown on Thursday for the start of an eight-game homestand.

Naughton was promoted from Single-A Clearwater to Lehigh Valley on April 29, but the catcher had yet to appear in a game for the IronPigs. In fact, the seven-year pro had yet to appear above the Single-A level in his career.

With a morning first pitch following the Bisons’ 10-inning win on Monday night, Naughton got the start. In the seventh inning, former Bison Josh Barfield led off with a double and advanced to third base when Jose De La Torre struck out Brian Bocock on a wild pitch. That forced the infield to come in and Naughton came through with the game-winning hit into shallow left field.

Jon Malo gave the Bisons an early lead with a sac fly in the second inning, but that was erased with Delwyn Young’s two-run homer off starter Pat Misch in the bottom of the frame. Ruben Tejada doubled home a run in the fifth inning to tie the game at two.

BISONS NOTES: Raul Chavez posted a season-high three hits in going 3-4 in the game. ..IronPigs’ right fielder Domonic Brown went 1-4 with a double in the game…Buffalo turned three doubleplays in the loss.

VS. IRONPIGS: The Bisons are 3-4 against the IronPigs this year as the teams split a four-game set at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, April 22-25. Adams’ late heroics lift Bisons

A 10th-inning no-doubt home run from Russ Adams was the difference as the Bisons collected a 6-4 victory over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Monday night. Lucas Duda also went deep and drove in three as the Herd snapped a two-game skid at Coca-Cola Park.

The Bisons now have a chance to split their four-game series in Allentown, PA with a Tuesday morning 10:35 a.m. start against the IronPigs.

Adams’s home run came with two outs and only after a close strike call to the previous batter. Valentino Pascucci watched a 2-2 breaking ball from Chance Chapman just miss the strike zone, much to the dismay of the righty and his battery mate, Erik Kratz. Pascucci walked on the next pitch and Adams blasted a 3-1 offering to deep right field for the game-winning hit.

Adam’s home run was his first of the season and helped the infield snap 1-15 roadtrip.

Manny Acosta worked the bottom of the 10th inning to earn his first win of the season.

For the second straight day, the beginning of the game belonged to the Bisons. The Herd struck for two runs in the first inning and two more in the third to build a 4-0 lead. Duda drove in three of the runs, with a two-run homer in the first and an RBI-single in the third.

But once again, the IronPigs rallied. After allowing just one hit in the first five innings, Josh Stinson allowed four hits in the sixth. Kratz’s two-out ground rule double pulled Lehigh Valley to within 4-2 and knocked Stinson from the game.

IronPigs shortstop Brian Bocock followed with a two-run single off reliever Dale Thayer to tie the game.
