Sandy Alderson visits Buffalo
First year Mets general manager, SandyAlderson, took in his first Bisons game Wedneday night. Prior to his post-game promotion of infielder Josh Satin, he took questions from the Buffalo media.
The conversation covers a wide range of topics from Major League rehabs, Bisons in the big leagues, the job of the club’s staff and Tim Teufel as well as the Mets/Bisons partnership moving ahead:
After the game Bisons broadcaster, Ben Wagner talked with the newest New York Mets infielder, Josh Satin:

Satin sent to NYC for September
A round of applause roared in the Bisons clubhouse after Wednesday’s game.
It was for 26-year old Josh Satin, who learned he will be a major league rookie on Thursday. With the major league rosters expanding on Thursday, September 1st, there’s room in New York for infielder Josh Satin.
Bisons manager Tim Teufel said postgame on Wednesday that Satin will be promoted to the Mets on September 1st. Satin will join former Bisons pitcher Josh Stinson in the first round of call-ups to the major leagues.
It’s the first time in the big leagues for Satin, who is having a breakout season in the Mets organization. New York’s 25th round pick in the 2007 draft has combined to hit .323 (156-483) with 42 doubles, two triples, 12 home runs and 76RBI in 132 games between Double-A Binghamton and the Bisons.
With the Herd, Satin hit in 31 of his 38 games.
Syracuse stops Herd
One miscue was all Syracuse needed on Wednesday night.
A third-inning Bisons’ error helped the Chiefs plate two of their three runs in a 3-1 victory over the Herd from Coca-Cola Field. The defeat, their 11th of the season to Syracuse, snapped Buffalo’s three-game win streak.
The error turned into two unearned runs for southpaw Mark Cohoon, who pitched well but fell in defeat.
With the game scoreless, Bisons second baseman Luis Hernandez threw wide of the base while attempting to turn a doubleplay. Instead of two out, there were two on for the Chiefs and both baserunners came around to score.
The Bisons lone run was scored in the sixth inning as Jesus Feliciano pulled a home run down the right field line. The blast was the veteran’s 370th hit of his Bisons career, tying him with Greg Tubbs for second most in the modern era (Bill Selby, 378).
Maybe the most intriguing play of the night occurred two batters after Feliciano’s home run. Catcher Raul Chavez smoked a liner off the glove of shortstop Seth Bynum. Bynum retrieved the ball, but threw wild to first base. As the ball rolled to the Bisons dugout, home plate umpire John Conrad ruled that pitching coach Ricky Bones interfered with the play. Although he was credited with a base hit, Chavez was ruled out.
The Chiefs bullpen made the lead stand up. Josh Wilkie, the fifth of five Syracuse relievers, pitched the ninth inning for his 15th save of the season.
Cohoon allowed just won earned run in 6.1 innings of work but suffered the loss.
Buffalo wraps up the home portion of the 2011 schedule on Thursday night with Fan Appreciation Night at 6:05 p.m. against the Chiefs.
BISONS NOTES: Just prior to the game, the Bisons activated outfielder Mike Baxter and placed infielder Zach Lutz on the disabled list…After going hitless in back-to-back games for the first time as a Bison, Josh Satin went 2-4 with a double…The Bisons need a win on Thursday to finish the season with an even 36-36 record at Coca-Cola Field.

Bisons run for win in T-town
Valentino Pascucci isn’t known for stealing bases and without a stolen base in 133 games he decided to change that by swiping second base in the sixth inning of Saturday night’s game reaching second standing up in the Bisons 134th game of the year.
Thanks to Pascucci’s first stolen base of the 2011 season and a single into right field by Josh Satin the Bisons ended their four game losing streak by beating Toledo 3-2 at Fifth Third Field.
Zach Lutz put the Bisons in the lead in the third inning smashing a two run home run over the left field wall scoring Jordany Valdespin. After the Mud Hens battled back into the game the Bisons manufactured the game winning run in the sixth.
Pascucci didn’t steal a base at all in the 2010 season with the Bisons. Pascucci did have one stolen base in the 2009 season with triple-A Portland Beavers and two in 2008 with the triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.
Pascucci planned the steal well coasting into second without a throw or having to slide. Satin drove a single into right field scoring Pascucci from second for Satin’s 16th RBI with the Bisons.
Fernando Perez drew a walk in the seventh and on a single by Valdespin into left field Perez went from first to third putting himself into scoring position. With Luis Hernandez batting Perez broke for home on a sucide squeeze but with the pitch in the dirt Hernandez couldn’t make contact and Perez was hung out to dry.
Dale Thayer closed out the game in Toledo earning his 19 th save of the season giving the Bisons a 4-4 split on a road trip that the Bisons started 3-0.
Game Notes: Valentino Pascucci stole second base for the first time in 193 games with the Bisons…Jordany Valdespin extended his hit streak to six games going 3-3 and scoring a run on Saturday night…Dale Thayer added to his save total getting his International league leading 19 th save Saturday night.
