Bisons use extras, bullpen to win

Jesus Feliciano’s second RBI and third hit of the night scored pinch runner Fernando Perez in the top of the 10th inning gave Buffalo a 5-4 win in the opener of a four-game series in Pawtucket.

John Lujan, who earned the win, avoided a walk-off loss in the ninth with the game tied and runners on second and third and one out, striking out Brent Dlugach and getting Ryan Lavarnway to fly out.

Despite a Lars Anderson single and a Nate Spears walk, Dale Thayer held on for his 15th save in the bottom of the tenth.

Starter Dylan Owen allowed four earned runs on six hits over five innings, walking four with two strikeouts.

Pawtucket put runners on the corners with no outs in the second, scoring when the Bisons traded a double play hit into by Hector Luna for Anderson advancing home.

The Bisons managed to tie the game in the fourth after loading the bases with no outs. Josh Satin, who started the rally with his fourth double as a Bison, scored on a Jesus Feliciano single.

Satin extended his hit streak to 11 games, hitting 18-for-44 over the stretch including his double.

Home plate umpire Art Thigpen ejected manager Tim Teufel after Teufel argued a safe call on Fernando Martinez’ throw to seemingly catch Ronald Bermudez at third after Nate Spears’ single.

The next batter, major league rehab assignee Jed Lowrie, scored both base runners on a double for a 4-1 lead.

Ruben Tejada cut the lead back to one on a two-RBI single after the Herd loaded the bases again, this time against reliever Clevelan Santeliz.

Luis Figueroa then tied the game and took a bid for a win from PawSox starter Brandon Duckworth with a single.
