TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on their rival, the Rochester Red Wings, from Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). This two-game series has been shortened to just one game after yesterday’s postponement. That game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Monday, August 10. After tonight’s game, the Bisons will travel to Rochester for a four-game in three-day series at Frontier Field.
vs. THE RED WINGS: The closest rivals in the International League will be seeing a lot of each other the rest of the season. Fifteen of the Herd’s remaining 68 games are against Rochester (22% of schedule). The Bisons and Red Wings have played just one game against each other this year, a 1-0 Rochester win at Frontier Field, April 29. Games on April 28 and July 3 were rained out.
RETURN OF PEREZ: LHP Oliver Perez will make his second start with the Bisons tonight. The southpaw has made three previous starts on his major league rehab assignment, recovering from a right knee injury. He last pitched with Brooklyn (A) on June 28 and allowed just two hits and struck out six in five innings. He first pitched with Buffalo on May 26 and allowed only three hits and one run while striking out five in 4.1 innings.
WHOA NELLY!: RHP Nelson Figueroa was selected to the International League All-Star team yesterday. The veteran was a perfect 3-0 with a razor-thin 1.53ERA in five starts in June. Overall, Figueroa’s 2.61ERA is 8th in the IL. He also leads the Bisons with nine quality starts. Figueroa will be joined by Bisons manager Ken Oberkfell, who is a coach for the IL All-Star team.
FELICIANO FEELIN’ IT: OF Jesus Feliciano’s June brought him up into an elite class of IL hitters. Feliciano hit .317 (32-101) in 26 games during the month and he now has the 9th best average in the league at .304. During June, Feliciano drove in 17 runs and now leads the Bisons with 29RBI on the season.
FEELIN’ SULLY: OF Cory Sullivan is coming off a stellar June. The outfielder hit .326 (31-95) during the month with five doubles, eight RBI and 14 runs scored. Sullivan had a trio of four-hit games during June, including a 4-5 effort on Monday against Charlotte.
Bisons/Red Wings Postponed
PLEASE NOTE: Thursday’s postponement will not affect the Bisons Independence Eve Celebration on Friday, July 3. That game will still be ONE GAME ONLY beginning at 6:05 p.m.
Thursday’s game between the Buffalo Bisons and the Rochester Red Wings at Coca-Cola Field has been postponed due to wet grounds/unplayable field conditions.
The teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader on Monday, August 10 (Game 1: 5:35 p.m.). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. The teams will play two, seven-inning games that day.
Fans holding tickets to Thursday’s game can exchange them for two comparable tickets to any future 2009 Bisons games (excluding special events). All ticket exchanges must be made at the Coca-Cola Field box office. Please note that these exchanges do not have to be made on Thursday, July 2. Fans with tickets can exchange them throughout the remainder of the 2009 season.

After tomorrow’s game, the Bisons will travel to Rochester for a four-game in three-day series at Frontier Field.

Knights take win Herd
The Knights picked up a 4-3 victory over the Bisons on Tuesday night. Buffalo received eight solid innings from starter Jon Niese but didn’t factor into the final decision. With the win, Charlotte picked up their fifth in a row and took a sweep over the Bisons for just the second time since 1998.
Buffalo is off on Wednesday and returns to action on Thursday afternoon to start a 2-game set against Rochester.

TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Charlotte Knights in the final game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Bisons need a victory tonight to avoid a four-game sweep at the hands of the Knights. After this game, the Bisons will have an off day on Wednesday before hosting a two-game series against rival Rochester.
vs. THE KNIGHTS: The Bisons are 2-5 against the Knights this season. The two teams split a four-game series in Charlotte, June 19-22. The Knights have outscored the Herd 37-34 in the season-series. The Bisons won the season series over Charlotte last season, 5-3.
NIESE-LY DONE: LHP Jonathon Niese has been outstanding of late. The southpaw is 3-1 with a 1.03ERA over his last four outings -a stretch that has lowered his season ERA from 8.05 to 5.18. At one point, Niese had thrown 24.1 consecutive scoreless innings before allowing a run in 7th inning of his last start, June 25 against Gwinnett. In his last four games, Niese has fanned 25 batters and allowed just 20 hits in 26.1 innings of work.
FELICIANO FEELIN’ IT: OF Jesus Feliciano continues to be one of the hottest bats in the Buffalo Bisons order. Feliciano remains among the top hitters in the International League. The outfielder is now hitting .309 this year, 8th-best in the IL. Feliciano has hit safely in 26 of his last 32 games since May 23. During this stretch, he has averaged .358 (43-120) with nine doubles, 20 RBI and 21 runs scored.
FEELIN’ SULLY: CF Cory Sullivan put on a show last night with four hits in five at bats. Along with three singles, the outfielder doubled, drove in a run and scored once. The four-hit game was Sullivan’s second in the last four games and team-leading third of the season. In June, Sullivan is hitting .337 (31-92) with five doubles, eight RBI and 13 runs scored in 25 games.
WHAT CAN BROWN DO FOR YOU: OF Emil Brown had the hot bat the last couple of days. The outfielder has put together back-to-back three-hit games that have included a double, a home run and four RBI. Brown is hitting .313 (21-67) with two home runs and 11RBI in 18 games as a Bison.
