TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the second game of a four-game set from Coca-Cola Field (7:05p.m.). The Herd look to even the series at one game apiece after the I-Pigs took game one last night, 12-6. After this four-game set, Buffalo travels to Syracuse for two games against the Chiefs, August 18-19.
vs. THE I-PIGS: The Herd is 2-6 against Lehigh Valley this season. The Bisons lost a three-game set in Lehigh Valley (2-1) from May 5-7 and a four-game set here at Coca-Cola Field, May 25-28 (3-1). The Bisons have gone 6-7 (.462) at home against the I-Pigs since Lehigh Valley’s arrival in the IL in 2008.
MR. MISCH: LHP Pat Misch will make his third start with the Bisons tonight. In his last outing, the southpaw allowed three runs (two earned) over six innings in a no-decision against Rochester on Monday (Game 2 of DH). He struck out four and walked just one Red Wings hitter in the game.
THE REY TO BE: INF Argenis Reyes comes into tonight’s contest riding a 13-game hit streak. During the streak that began August 1, Reyes is hitting .390 (23-59) with six runs scored and seven RBI. He has collected seven multi-hit games during the hit streak including two consecutive three-hit performances. The Bisons longest hit streak of the season came compliments of INF Javier Castillo, who hit in 16 straight from June 26 – July 12.
HITTIN’ HERD: Last night, six different Bisons had multi-hit performances, including three hits apiece for INF Argenis Reyes and INF Andy Green. The Herd totaled 16 hits in the game, matching their season high set two other times. OF Jesus Feliciano, who collected two hits last night, leads the Bisons with 31 multi-hit games this season.
BISONS BITS: OF Chip Ambres is hitting .333 (18-54) in his last 14 games with nine runs scored, seven doubles, and 10 RBI… INF Andy Green is on a seven-game hit streak in which he has hit .448 (13-29) with two runs scored and six RBI… Despite going 0-for-5 last night, INF Wilson Valdez is hitting .296 with the Herd in 34 games after hitting just .198 with Columbus in 41 games to start the season. Valdez has not committed an error since June 28 for the Bisons, his only error while with Buffalo.
I-Pigs get opener
The IronPigs doubled up the Bisons on Friday 12-6 to win the series opener. Buffalo matched a season high 16 hits in the loss with Argenis Reyes and Andy Green collecting three hits apiece. Four others had a mulit hit game.
Buffalo and Lehigh Valley get back to action on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the first game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (7:35p.m.). The Herd lost their last series against Rochester 3-2, with a loss yesterday in the rubber-match, 9-4. The Bisons have won five of their last eight games. After this four-game set, Buffalo travels to Syracuse for two games, 8/18-19.

The Bisons longest hit streak of the season came compliments of INF Javier Castillo, who hit in 16 straight from June 26 – July 12.
THE GREEN MACHINE: INF Andy Green continued his hot streak at the plate with another solid outing yesterday. Green went 2-4 with a run scored, a double, and an RBI. He currently has a six-game hit streak, in which he has gone 10-24 (.417) with two runs scored, and five RBI. Green has also proven to be very clutch with runners in scoring position for the Bisons this season going 7-23 (.304) with nine runs batted in.
CHIP AHOY: OF Chip Ambres has also been solid at the plate as of late. The outfielder went 1-3 with a double, two RBI, and a walk in yesterday’s game. In his last 13 games, Ambres has a .320 average (16-50), with nine runs scored, seven doubles and nine RBI. The veteran has raised his average 31 points going from a .209 to a .240 average during this stretch, 7/28-8/13.
VALDEZ FOR PREZ: INF Wilson Valdez has been on fire his last six games. The infielder had his fifth multi-hit game out of his last six games with a three-hit game yesterday. The only game he has failed to have a multi-hit performance in this streak came on August 8 when he only had one plate appearance. In this streak, Valdez has batted 10-21 (.476) with four runs scored.
Rochester rallies late for win
Rochester broke open a 5-4 game with a four run eighth to win a rubber game 9-4 over Buffalo on Thursday.
The Bisons went 2-3 against the Redwings to being the homestand and will welcome Lehigh Valley to town on Friday at 7:35 p.m.

TODAY’S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings in the final game of a five-game series from Coca-Cola Field (1:05p.m.). With the set tied 2-2, the Herd can earn their second straight series win with a victory today. The Bisons have now won five of their last seven games. Tomorrow, the Bisons welcome in the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for a four-game set, August 14-17.
vs. THE WINGS: The Herd is 4-6 against Rochester this season. The teams have split the last eight games after the Red Wings won the first two to open the season. Buffalo hitters have faired well against the Wings as the team has posted a .295 batting average in the first 10 games. In particular, C Robinson Cancel (.429, 6-14), INF Wilson Valdez (.381, 8-21) and INF Andy Green (.368, 7-19) have enjoyed facing Rochester pitching.
NOT SO PETTY: LHP Adam Pettyjohn is coming off his best start of the season. The southpaw threw eight shutout innings on Saturday in Columbus in a 2-1 Bisons win. Pettyjohn struck out seven Clippers and allowed just six hits and no walks. Since joining the Bisons on July 27, the veteran is 2-1 with a 2.65ERA in three appearances. He was 1-6 with a 4.68ERA in his 18 games and six starts with Louisville to start the year.
REY TO BE: INF Argenis Reyes’ left no doubt last night in extending his hit streak to 12 games. Reyes went 3-4 on Wednesday and has now averaged .370 (20-54) since the streak began on August 1. The streak is tied for the 3rd longest for a Bisons hitter this year (INF Javier Castillo 16 games, 6/26-7/12).
BIG INNINGS: The Bisons offense has produced a big inning in each of their last three games. The Herd had a 6-run fourth inning in the second game of Monday’s double-dip and a 5-run sixth on Tuesday. Last night, a 5-run third propelled the team to a 7-4 win. Buffalo is hitting .292 (126-432) in August.
BISONS BITS: As a team, the Bisons have averaged .370 (17-46) with runners in scoring position so far this series…INF Wilson Valdez has hit .293 (29-99) in his 32 games with the Bisons. C Robinson Cancel has seven hits in his last 11 at-bats (.636) over a three-game stretch.
