Roster rumblings
The Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, today announced that free agent C Javier Valentin has been added to the Buffalo Bisons roster. C Rafael Arroyo has been transferred to St. Lucie (A). The Mets also announced yesterday that they have selected the contract of RHP Nelson Figueroa and optioned LHP Jonathon Niese (pictured) to the Bisons.
Niese, made two starts for the Mets after being recalled from Buffalo on May 6. He was 0-0 with a 5.91ERA in 10.2 innings of work (14H, 7R, 7ER, 2BB, 10K). In 2009 with the Bisons, Niese is 0-2 with a 6.55ERA in five starts (22.0IP, 29H, 20R, 16ER, 8BB, 25K). In his last start with the Herd, May 1 vs. Louisville, the southpaw struck out a season-high eight batters and allowed just one run in six innings of work.
Buffalo is in action at 1:05 p.m. against Gwinnett at Coca-Cola Field in Game 3 of the series.
G-Braves even series
The Gwinnett Braves evened up the series against Buffalo with a 9-1 win on Wednesday night. Barbaro Canizares (pictured) drove home six runs for the G-Braves in the win. Charlie Morton was fantastic on the mound over 7-innings, allowing three hits and just one run.
For the Herd, Brandon Knight punched out seven through five innings and Carlos Muniz and Connor Robetson combined to strikeout five over the final four innings. At the plate, Mike Lamb had two of the three hits.
Buffalo is back in action on Thursday afternoon at 1:05 in game three of the four game set.

TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Gwinnett Braves for the first game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a split of a four-game series against the Norfolk Tides. The accent on the series was OF Jesus Feliciano’s walk-off home run in last night’s 5-3 win. After Friday, the Bisons will travel to Pawtucket for a four-game series with the Red Sox.
GWINNETT’S FIRST VISIT: Tonight marks the first ever visit by the Gwinnett Braves to Buffalo, NY. During the off-season, the Atlanta Braves moved their Triple-A team from Richmond to Gwinnett. Since rejoining the IL in 1998, the Bisons were 48-38 (.558) record against Richmond. That included a mark of 25-15 (.625) at Coca-Cola Field.
STARTING STRONG: The Bisons starting rotation continues to roll. RHP Tim Redding went seven solid innings last night to give the staff eight quality starts in the last 12 games. Since April 29, Herd starters have posted a 2.25ERA and allowed just 56 hits in 72.0 innings of work. The group has also struck out 51 and allowed just 12 walks. The stretch also includes a complete game in Game 1 of a doubleheader on May 2 against Louisville. That was thrown by tonight’s starter, RHP Dillon Gee (7.0IP, 6H, R, ER, K).
ROSTER MOVE: OF Angel Pagan has joined the Bisons on a MLB rehab assignment. Pagan had surgery on May 11 to remove a bone spur in his right elbow and has been on the Mets’ disabled list since April 5 (retro 3/27). He did play in five spring games, hitting .467 (7-15) with 2RBI. Last season, Pagan hit .275 (25-91) with 13RBI and four steals in 31 games with the Mets.
WALK IT OFF: OF Jesus Feliciano hit the Herd’s second walk-off home run this season with his two-run shot last night. INF/OF Nick Evans hit a walk-off homer in the 15th inning on April 12 against Pawtucket. Feliciano’s blast was his 42nd Bisons walk-off home run in the history of Coca-Cola Field.
GLOVE WORK: The Bisons are now the top fielding team in the International League (.982 pct.). Buffalo has made four fewer errors than any other team.
Once agian, game winner
The Buffalo Bisons picked up their second straight last-at-bat win on Tuesday night. Buffalo and Gwinnett went into extras tied 1-1 and with the Bisons down to their final out with no one on base, trailing 3-1 the Bisons took a 4-3 win. Angel Pagan did the honors, tagging a ball into centerfield, Gregor Blancor’s dive fell short and allowed the winning runs to cross.
Buffalo has one four of the last six and returns to action on Wednesday night at 7:05.
