The International League’s leading hitter, Bisons outfielder Jesus Feliciano, extended his hitting streak to 12 games to raise his average on the season to .383.

During the past week, he led the League inbatting average (.483), hits (14), runs scored (8), and on-base percentage (.543) to help the Bisons climb into a tie for 1st place in the IL North Division.

Feliciano managed multiple hits in five of the seven games during the week, including three-hit efforts on Monday against Norfolk and Sunday at Lehigh Valley. Since his current 12-game hitting streak began on May 12, he is hitting .458. His .383 average on the season leads the IL by more than 30 points.

Jesus Feliciano, who will turn 31 in less than two weeks, is in his 13th season of professional baseball. Originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 36th round of the 1997 draft, Feliciano has also spent time in the Tampa Bay and Washington organization’s before signing as a free agent with the Mets in 2007.

Feliciano is the second Bisons player to earn the IL Batter of the Week Award in
2010, following Mike Hessman (April 26-May 2).

Last year he led the International League with 154 hits and was named Buffalo’s Stan Barron Most Valuable Player Award winner. Feliciano is a native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
