Thole recalled to Mets
The New York Mets today announced that they have recalled Bisons C JOSH THOLE. The Bisons announced that C TONY MACCANI has been promoted to the team from Single-A St. Lucie.
The Mets placed catcher Henry Blanco on the Bereavement List due to an illness in his family. Thole will wear #30 and will be available for tonight’s game
Maccani, 25, has hit .233 (7-30) with a double, a home run and three RBI in 10 games with the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League. Behind the plate, Maccani has thrown out four of eight would-be base stealers.
Maccani has played 50 minor league games in the Mets’ system after being signed by New York as a non-drafted free agent in 2007. Last season, the catcher hit .185 (5-27) in eight games with St. Lucie.
Thole has hit .203 (16-79) with eight doubles and 10RBI in 21 games with the Herd this year. His eight doubles on the season are tied for the second most on the club. He was 3-3 with a triple and three RBI in yesterday’s 5-4 loss to Indianapolis.
Over Thole’s last 10 games, he’s batting .286 (10-35) with six doubles, one triple and six RBI.
