Herd clipped by 'Wings
The Bisons must have thought they were catching a break when Wings’ scheduled starter, Yohan Pino, who had an ERA under three in eight starts for Rochester, was dealt to Cleveland on Friday.
After collecting just five hits in eight-plus innings off fill-in starter Jason Jones, the Herd wished the deal never went down. The Bisons didn’t get to the right-hander until the ninth-inning but by then it was to late as the Wings beat the Herd 5-2 Saturday night at Frontier Field.
The Bisons look to win the series Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. The Herd will send Chris Mason to the mound looking for a repeat performance of his first start when he threw seven shutout innings against Scranton.
