Two veterans were in their usual form for the Bisons on Sunday night. Each helped the club to a 3-1 win over the rival Rochester Red Wings at Coca-Cola Field.

Pat Misch scattered six hits over seven solid innings and Valentino Pascucci hit another moon shot to give the Bisons a victory to open up their final homestand of the 2011 season. With only three home games left, the duo sent 10,177 Bisons fans home happy on Sunday.

Misch allowed six hits, but none went for extra bases. Making the big pitches when needed, he forced Rochester to leave 10 men on base to go along with five strikeouts.

The defense picked up the southpaw in the third inning of a scoreless game. With two runners on base, Rochester’s Ray Chang singled up the middle. Jesus Feliciano charged hard from center and threw Toby Gardenhire out trying to score from second base.

Misch then picked up his teammates in his seventh and final inning. The Red Wings loaded the bases with no outs thanks in large part to two fielding errors. The veteran battled back to get a doubleplay from Dusty Martin and a fly out from Brian Dinkelman to limit the damage to one unearned run.

Buffalo scored in three straight innings to build a 3-0 lead. Luis Hernandez drove home a run in the fourth inning while Raul Chavez came around on a wild pitch in the fifth. In the sixth, Pascucci hit his 21st home run of the season over the protective netting in left field.

Pascucci followed his home run in Sunday’s game with eight more post game to win the club’s annual home run derby contest.

Dale Thayer closed out the win with a perfect ninth inning. The save was his 20th of the season, becoming only the fifth Bisons player in the modern era to reach 20 saves in a single season.

BISONS NOTES: Jesus Feliciano collected his 100th hit of the season with a fourth-inning single. He is the first Bisons player in the modern era to record 100 or more hits in three consecutive seasons with the team…Jordany Valdespin went 1-4 to improve his hit streak to seven games…Pascucci defeated Josh Satin and Zach Lutz in the post game home run derby challenge.
