TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Toledo Mud Hens in the second game of a four-game series from Fifth Third Field (6:30 p.m.). The Herd is looking to bounce back from a 7-6 defeat in last night’s series opener. The Bisons have now lost two in a row after beginning this eight-game roadtrip with three straight wins. Buffalo has just four home games left this season, August 28-29 vs. Rochester and August 31-September 1 vs. Syracuse.

VS. THE HENS: The Bisons’ drought at Fifth Third Field has entered 2011. The Herd was swept by the Mud Hens in both 2009 and 2010 and lost game one of this series last night, 7-6. Since a 5-3 victory on May 28, 2008, Buffalo has lost 10 straight games at the home of the Hens.

ON THE BUMP: LHP MARK COHOON takes the hill for the 16th time with the Bisons. The southpaw defeated Columbus on Saturday with six innings of three-run ball. Cohoon threw a season-high 103 pitches in the victory over the Clippers. The Triple-A rookie has allowed three earned runs or less in three straight starts and 10 of 12 starts since June 17.

HIT KING: OF JESUS FELICIANO doubled home two runs in the first inning last night for his 98th hit of the season. The outfielder has 366 hits with the team since 2009, only 12 shy of Bill Selby’s modern era record total of 378.  Feliciano had 154 hits in 2009 and 114 last season. No Bisons player has ever had three consecutive 100 hit seasons in the modern era.

ROSTER MOVE: The Bisons activated OF BUBBA BELL from the disabled list today. Bell had missed eight games with a left hamstring strain. The outfielder leads the Bisons with eight stolen bases and has hit .234 (34-145) with a home run and 17RBI in 58 games with the Bisons.

MR. VP: INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI continues to lead all International League hitters with his 90RBI. The last time a Bisons player led a league in RBI was 1996 when OF Nigel Wilson led the defunct American Association with 95RBI. Buffalo Baseball and IL Hall of Famer Frank “Pancho” Herrera was the last Bisons player to lead the International League in RBI (108 in 1962).

METS UPDATE: The Mets (61-68) defeated the rival Phillies, 7-4, on Wednesday night. Former Bison OF NICK EVANS went 3-4 with his second home run of the season and four RBI. DAVID WRIGHT also went deep for the 11th time this season. The Mets are off today and will open up a seven-game homestand tomorrow against Atlanta.
