Bisons fall in 12th from Syracuse

The Bisons started the scoring in the first inning of Tuesday’s game but Syracuse ended it in the bottom of the 12th inning with a sacrifice fly.

After going into extra innings tied at 3-3 the Chiefs cashed in a leadoff double by Seth Bynum and a sacrifice fly hit by Brian Bixler giving Syracuse a 4-3 victory at Alliance Bank Stadium.

Bynum moved from second to third on a passed ball, and Brian Sweeney walked Steve Lombardozzi to set up the double play. Bixler sent the first pitch he saw deep to left-field giving Jason Botts no chance of throwing out Bynum tagging from third.

The Bisons had a one run lead going into the seventh inning but lost on a sacrifice fly. Jose De La Torre managed to strand three Chiefs on the base paths and keep the game tied. It was De La Torre’s first appearance since May 5.

This is the second game that the Bisons have lost to the Chiefs in extra innings, the first coming on July 2 in 11-innings, when they lost 6-5.

The Herd took an early 1-0 lead on Jesus Feliciano’s second home run of the season, and Valentino Pascucci knocked in his 61st RBI in the third inning. Pascucci has 56 RBI since May 10, four more than any other hitter in the International League.

Herd Starter Dylan Owen worked six innings giving up four hits, two runs, and four walks, while striking out five Chiefs. Owen was in-line for the win before the Chiefs tied it up in the seventh.

Game Notes: Jesus Feliciano hit his second home run of the season for the Bisons, he has never hit more than two in a season…Feliciano scored his second run of the game on a Valentino Pascucci single that gives him 11 in the first five games back from the All-Star break…Luis Hernandez kept pace with him with a sacrifice fly for his 44 RBI.
