TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons take on the Indianapolis Indians in the final game of a four-game series from Victory Field (7:15 p.m.). The Bisons trail the Indians 1-2 in the series and need to win tonight to earn a split. Buffalo is now 3-4 on their eight-game roadtrip that began with a split of a four-game set in Louisville. Tomorrow, the Bisons begin an eight-game homestand against the Charlotte Knights and the Gwinnett Braves.
VS. THE INDIANS: The Bisons trail Indy 1-2 in the season series. Dating back to the end of the 2008 season, the Herd is just 7-15 in its last 22 games against the Tribe. The last time Buffalo won a season series at Victory Field was when they took three of four over Indianapolis on June 28 – July 1, 2004.
HEY MR. D.J.: RHP D.J. CARRASCO is making his fifth start of the season tonight. The righty threw a season-high six innings in his last start, a no-decision to the Bats on May 15 (8H, 3R, 3ER, 4BB, 3K). Carrasco has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his four previous starts this season.
GONE FISHIN’: INF MICHAEL FISHER enters tonight’s game on a four-game hit streak. The Triple-A rookie has averaged .563 (9-16) since May 15. Yesterday, Fisher was 4-5 with his first career Triple-A home run. It was the 26-year old’s fifth career game with four or more hits and his first since May 25, 2008 while with Single-A Rome.
NO FREEBIES: The Bisons pitching staff has not issued a walk in back-to-back games. The last Herd hurler to yield a free pass was LHP TAYLOR TANKERSLEY in the 8th inning of Tuesday’s contest (OF Andrew Lambo). Since then, Buffalo pitchers have faced 74 batters over 19.1 innings of work. On the year, the Bisons have allowed 140 walks, tied for ninth fewest in the IL.
BISONS BITS: The Bisons are the only team in the International League that has yet to allow a passed ball…RHP DALE THAYER has not allowed a run over his last 8.2 innings of work over eight appearances…INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI reached safely in all five of his plate appearances yesterday with a single, a double and three walks. He now leads the Bisons with 19RBI.
METS UPDATE: The Mets shutout the Nationals yesterday by a 1-0 score. Former Bison RHP DILLON GEE took a no-hitter into the sixth inning to improve to 3-0 on the year. Former Bisons INF JUSTIN TURNER drove in New York’s only run. The 2011 Subway Series begins tonight at 7:05 p.m. from Yankee Stadium.
