Herd Hot Stove: Mets ink Adams, NT product
Russ Adams, 30, spent the entire 2010 season with the Bisons, his first season in Buffalo. The veteran hit .264 (101-383) with a career-high 16 home runs and 58RBI in 108 games with the Herd. He also finished 1st on the team with 28 doubles and 46 extra-base hits and tied for the team-lead with 58RBI.
The New York Mets selected North Tonawanda product RHP Ricky Brooks in the Triple-A phase of the 2010 Rule V Draft. A graduate from North Tonawanda High School in 2003, he was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the third round of the 2005 draft.
Brooks was a three-year player for the North Tonawanda Lumberjacks. The pitcher posted a 16-4 record and was named Western New York Player of the Year as the Lumberjack’s senior captain in 2003. During the 2002-2003 scholastic year, Brooks helped NT to Section VI titles in football, hockey and baseball.
