TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in the final game of a four-game set at PNC Field (7:05 p.m.). The Bisons are looking to earn a split of the series after yesterday’s 7-2 win. Tonight’s game is part of a season-long nine-game roadtrip for the Herd. After this series, the Bisons will play two in Pawtucket before a three-game series against the Red Wings in Rochester.
vs. THE YANKS: The Bisons are 4-9 against the Yankees this year. After the Yanks swept a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field from April 13-16, the two clubs have split three straight two-game sets. The Bisons and Yanks still have two more games to play in Buffalo, NY on September 2-3.
WELCOME MASON: RHP Chris Mason will make his Bisons debut tonight. The right hander was called up from Double-A Binghamton today after going 1-1 with a 2.87ERA in four games and three starts with the B-Mets. Mason began the year with 25 appearances in the Rays’ minor league system before being released on July 24. Mason has a 4-6 record in 32 overall games (9 starts) between Tampa Bay’s and New York’s systems.
OFFENSE EXPLOSION: All nine Bisons batters in the starting lineup last night recorded a hit and six different players scored a run in the team’s 7-2 victory last night. Buffalo had 13 hits overall, including two each from INF Argenis Reyes, INF/OF Nick Evans, INF Mike Lamb and DH Josh Petersen. Reyes was the lone Bisons player to score two runs in the game.
ONE OFF THE TOP: OF Jesus Feliciano now trails Gwinnett’s Barbaro Cannizares by three hits for the most in the International League. Feliciano has 133 hits this season, 34 more hits than any of his teammates (INF Mike Lamb, 99). Feliciano’s .303 batting average is also tied for 9th in the IL. The outfielder also leads the Bisons in runs (51), doubles (28) and stolen bases (12).
BISONS BITS: LHP Arturo Lopez has posted a 1.65ERA in his last seven relief appearances (16.1IP)…INF Mike Lamb has averaged .337 (32-95) with runners in scoring position. He leads the team with 46RBI on the season…RHP Jim Ed Warden has struck out 18 batters in only 11.1 innings with the Herd.
