TODAY’S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons host the Syracuse Chiefs in the first two games of a four-game in two-day series from Coca-Cola Field (Game 1: 1:05 p.m.). These teams will play two consecutive doubleheaders because of a pair of rainouts in Buffalo, June 17-18. The Herd was swept in a two-game series by the Chiefs at Alliance Bank Stadium, August 18-19. After tomorrow’s games, the Herd visits Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for a three-game series, August 23-25.

vs. THE CHIEFS: The Bisons are just 2-10 against Syracuse this year. The Chiefs have three series sweeps of the Herd: April 17-19 (3G), April 24-27 (4G) and August 18-19 (2G). The Bisons collected a 2-1 series victory at Alliance Bank Stadium from June 15-16 (DH on June 15).

BIG BAT: INF/OF Nick Evans is hitting .292 (21-72) in 19 games in August. Twelve of his 21 total hits have gone for extra-bases as Evans has six doubles, two triples and four home runs to go along with 13RBI this month. He has a .597 slugging percentage in August. Going back to July, 19 of Evans’ last 36 hits have gone for extra-bases (10 doubles, 3 triples, 6 home runs).

HOT BAT: INF Javier Castillo has hit in four straight games for the Herd. He collected two more hits last night and now has seven hits in his last 13 at-bats (a .538 average). The stretch has given him 25 doubles on the year between his time in Buffalo and in Charlotte. OF Jesus Feliciano leads all Bisons hitters with 27 doubles this season.

SOLID SOUTHPAW: LHP Pat Misch collected his first Bisons win his last time out. The lefty hurled six innings and allowed just three runs (two earned) on five hits in a victory over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Saturday. Misch has made three starts for the Herd and worked six innings in each of them. His only loss was a complete game effort in the first game of a doubleheader in Syracuse on June 15.

BISONS BITS: LHP Ken Takahashi is 0-3 in six starts despite posting a very solid 3.62ERA as a starter…OF Chip Ambres (10 games) and INF Mike Lamb (6 games) both saw their hit streaks end last night.
