Sweet victory

Pawtucket was the first team on the board, plating two runs in the second inning on walks by Chris Carter and Travis Denker. The runners were batted in by an Angel Chavez double.

That would be all Fernando Nieve would allow for the Herd. The first-time Bison went six innings in his debut. Nieve allowed three hits while striking out seven and walking six.

The better news for Nieve was that he got mammoth run support.

The Herd really broke things open in the seventh inning when 11 batters came to the plate. Buffalo combined four hits with two walks and two PawSox errors to plate six runs and take an 8-2 lead. The Bisons would post a 9-2 win and have a chance to split the series at 12:05 p.m. on Tuesday.
