Laffey returns, trade winds

Big day for roster moves in the Big Leagues and in Buffalo. Let me see if I can help all of you keep this straight since the ‘trade winds’ are blowing at gale force.

As forecasted on the broadcast earlier this week, Aaron Laffey is back to Buffalo and will return to the rotation Sunday evening. Side note, Fausto Carmona is off the DL, that’s why Laffey was optioned back. Matt Ginter will stay in the rotation and throw Tuesday against Detroit.

This morning, Casey Blake was traded to the Dodgers, Andy Gonzalez leaves Buffalo for Cleveland to take the roster spot. The Bisons gain reliever Jon Meloan from Los Angeles and will join the Bisons bullpen when he arrives in the coming days.

Anthony Reyes was traded to Cleveland from St. Louis and will be in the Bisons rotation starting Monday in the series finale against Charlotte.

Following the game Friday night, Chris De La Cruz was traded to the Marlins and that leaves Buffalo with two position players – catcher Yamid Haad and outfielder Jason Cooper (I hope no infielders get hurt until the Tribe finds and extra body to bring to Buffalo).

Also, former Bisons outfielder, Jason Tyner is at the ballpark today and is listed on Marc Bombard’s card as an extra player for tonight.

Times like these are hectic for Bisons skipper Torey Lovullo… the cell has been glued to his ear.
