Game 2: Pressures on

Two games and two different ways to win. Buffalo trailed 2-0 before coming back to take a brief lead and then head to the ninth knotted at three. As Torey Lovullo told us, “our goal is to make pitchers work deep into counts when we’re at the plate.” And the hitters abide.

Following a Ben Francisco leadoff single in the ninth, Jordan Brown and Ryan Mulhern work walks to load the bags and the pressure was on Norfolk. Brad Snyder came to the plate with one down and lined a sac fly to center to easily score Francisco from third. Edward Mujica came out of the pen – easy as 1,2,3 in home half of the ninth. Buffalo win.

Here are some interesting numbers over the first two games that illustrate how strong the Buffalo lineup has been so far.

  • Hits: 22 (five extra base hits and no home runs, yet)
  • Runs: 13
  • Ave. with RISP: .269 (7-26)
  • Walks: 10

Game 3 of the series is tonight in Norfolk. Pregame at 6:55, first pitch at 7:15 and it looks like we’ll have to battle showers (100% chance) but hopefully we can avoid a getaway day twin bill tomorrow.
